The appeal was partially upheld: Everton had their punishment commuted for violating financial fair play

Mikolenko’s team received back 4 of the 10 previously deducted points.

An independent appeal board has considered the appeal of Everton Ukrainian defender Vitaly Mykolenko against the decision to deprive the club of 10 points in the English Premier League (EPL) season 2023/24 for violation financial fair play rules.

As reported on the official website of the Premier League, the Toffees reduced the number of points deducted from 10 to 6.

Thus, the Merseyside club received 4 points back in the standings the current championship of England.

After the return of four scoring points, Mikolenko’s team now has 25 points. This allowed Sean Dyche's men to rise in the table from 17th to 15th. The Toffees' lead from the relegation zone has grown to 5 points.

By the way, in the next round of the Premier League, the Merseyside club will host West Ham on March 2.

Recall that in November last year Everton have been found guilty of breaching the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs). The independent commission found that the Toffees breached PSRs in the period ending with the 2021/22 season.

The commission found that the club's settlements for the relevant period resulted in losses of £124.5 million – the permitted limit is 106 million pounds.
