The Ukrainian team defeated the Iceland team in the final match of the play-off qualifying for Euro 2024. The match at the Tarczynski Arena Wroclaw stadium in Wroclaw, Poland, ended with the score 2:1.
The Icelanders took the lead in the 30th minute of the match. Genoa forward Albert Gudmundssondealt with the Ukrainian defense and shot beautifully from outside the penalty area into the corner to his right.
In the 39th minute, the “blue-yellows” were close to winning back. Georgy Sudakov threw the ball to the right flank of the penalty area to Viktor Tsygankov, and he crossed into the center, where Roman Yaremchuk shot into the goal. However, after viewing the video replay (VAR), the referees canceled the goal due to Tsygankov being offside.
After the break, Sergei Rebrov's team managed to equalize the score. In the 54th minute, Tsygankov received a diagonal pass to the right flank from Sudakov, moved to the center and accurately sent the ball into the far corner from the penalty area.
In the 84th minute, the Ukrainian team scored the winning goal. Mikhail Mudrik received a pass from Sudakov and hit the far corner from outside the penalty area.
