The Ukrainian national ice hockey team successfully started at the 2024 World Championship in Division IB. In their first match at the tournament, the Ukrainians defeated Estonia with a score of 8:0.
In the first period, the “blue-yellows” scored one goal against the opponent – Alexander Peresunko scored.
The next period turned out to be more productive and our team upset the Estonians three more times. The effective shots were made by Stanislav Sadovikov, Andrey Deniskin and Daniil Trakht.
In the third period, Dmitry Khristich's team hit the opponent's goal four more times. Deniskin scored a double; Gleb Krivoshapkin, Igor Merezhko and Felix Morozov scored one goal each.

Thanks to the crushing victory over Estonia, the Ukrainian team topped the standings of its group. The Blue-Yellows, due to the better goal difference, are ahead of Lithuania (they beat Spain in the first round – 3:0) and China (they beat the Netherlands – 3:0).
The next match is at the 2024 World Cup of Hockey Ukrainians will play on Sunday, April 28, with the Dutch national team. Starts at 19:30 Kyiv time.
Note that the Ukrainian national team is playing in the third strongest division of the world hockey championship for the fifth time in a row. The winner of the division will receive a ticket to the second division (IA) of the World Championship next year. The team that takes last place will be relegated to the fourth division (IIA).
