Sent for the ship: CAS rejected Russia's appeal against expulsion from the International Olympic Committee

The decision taken by the IOC last October remains in force.

p>The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne rejected the appeal of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) against the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to suspend its membership.

This was reported on the official website CAS.

In October last year, the IOC suspended the activities of the Russian Olympic Committee due to the fact that it included regional organizations of the occupied territories of Ukraine in its composition.

The IOC stated that the actions of the Olympic Committee Committee of Russia are a violation of the Olympic Charter, since it also violates the territorial integrity of the NOC of Ukraine, recognized by the IOC.

Note that the suspension of ROC membership deprived the aggressor country of the right to receive funding from the IOC. However, this did not affect the Russians, who compete at international competitions in a neutral status.

So, Russian athletes under a neutral flag can participate in the qualifying competitions for the 2024 Olympics, which will be held in Paris next summer.

We recall that in December last year the IOC decided toallowRussian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in a neutral status. They will be able to compete in Paris only in individual competitions, while teams from aggressor countries will not be allowed.
