Avengers Infinity Defense will open in 2028 at Disney California Adventure in California. Disney confirmed the date during its D23 2026 presentation in Anaheim. The attraction becomes a major expansion of Avengers Campus, as the Baltimore Chronicle reports. Disney published additional details through the official Disney Parks Blog.
Avengers Infinity Defense will send visitors against King Thanos
The attraction casts visitors as new Avengers recruits. Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani, delivers their pre-mission briefing. Guests must reassemble the Avengers and stop King Thanos, a victorious multiverse version of the villain.
Disney says several MCU actors will reprise their roles:
- Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye;
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America;
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor;
- Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
The ride will combine large physical sets with extensive media environments. Guests will move through Asgard, Wakanda and New York City. King Thanos will appear as the central threat during the multi-world mission.
Avengers Campus will double in size in 2028
Avengers Infinity Defense is not arriving alone. Disney will also open Stark Flight Lab in 2028. Together, the attractions will double the size of Avengers Campus.

Stark Flight Lab will place riders inside 2-person gyro-kinetic pods. Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie and Brie Larson will appear as flight instructors. Disney has not announced an exact opening date within 2028.
What Disney confirmed at D23 2026
The announcement gives Disneyland visitors a firm year for an expansion first detailed at D23 2024. Construction is already underway at Disney California Adventure.
Disney also announced Marvel projects for Hong Kong and Shanghai. Hong Kong Disneyland is developing Avengers Research Testing Labs. Shanghai Disneyland is building the first Disney land dedicated entirely to Spider-Man.
