Russian occupiers have apparently killed at least five unarmed Ukrainian soldiers who were captured. A video of the execution of the prisoners was published online.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the human rights ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets on Telegram.
Another video is being circulated on social networks showing the probable execution of unarmed Ukrainian servicemen captured by Russians. As the ombudsman noted, the footage shows at least five prisoners of war who are probably killed.
Lubinets said he had sent letters to the UN and the ICRC to have the war crime recorded.
“Those who give orders and carry out such atrocities must be held strictly accountable,” he stressed.
Witnesses or those who have information about the aforementioned crime against Ukrainian servicemen are asked to immediately report it to the Ukrainian Ombudsman's hotline at 0800 50 17 20.
Executions of Ukrainian prisoners
As previously reported by Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets, in 2024, the execution of 109 Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russians was officially confirmed. According to him, in previous years, a total of 177 cases of killings of Ukrainian defenders by the occupiers were recorded.
Let us recall that in February 2025, a video of the execution of Ukrainian soldiers captured by Russians in the Kursk region appeared online. The footage shows a Russian occupier deliberately shooting a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the head. According to one of the Ukrainian fighters, these were soldiers of the 82nd Brigade.
