Wendy’s T-Rex Burger has returned with 9 beef patties and an eating challenge built around the same number. The oversized burger is being offered at a Wendy’s franchise in Edmond, Oklahoma, rather than across the chain nationwide, as Baltimore Chronicle reports.
The unusual promotion was spotted at the Oklahoma restaurant and later reported by Allrecipes and Dexerto. There is currently no announced nationwide rollout.

The Wendy’s T-Rex Burger stacks 9 beef patties with 9 slices of cheese.
It also comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onion, ketchup and mayonnaise. The ingredients turn an ordinary fast-food burger into a deliberately excessive menu item.

The $29.99 offer is therefore more than the burger alone. Customers receive fries, a drink and an “I Survived the T-Rex Burger” T-shirt.

The Wendy’s burger challenge asks customers to finish the T-Rex Burger inside the restaurant within 9 minutes.
The promotion has several simple rules and rewards:
- finish the 9-patty burger;
- complete it in 9 minutes;
- take part inside the restaurant;
- receive an additional mystery prize after succeeding.
The restaurant has not publicly revealed what the extra prize is. That unanswered question has helped the promotion spread online.
The T-shirt, meanwhile, is advertised as part of the $29.99 meal rather than the mystery reward.
Why the T-Rex Burger is making a comeback
The nine-patty Wendy’s burger is not entirely new. Earlier versions of the T-Rex became part of fast-food folklore more than a decade ago.
Its return works because the product is immediately understandable. There are 9 patties, 9 cheese slices and 9 minutes to beat the challenge.
For Wendy’s customers outside Oklahoma, however, there is a catch. The current promotion has only been confirmed at the Edmond franchise. Wendy’s has not announced the T-Rex Burger as a new nationwide menu item.
That distinction matters: the famous giant burger is back, but for now its comeback remains a local fast-food experiment.
