In Kyiv, from May 9 until the end of 2025, partial traffic restrictions will be introduced on the Desenka Bridge, connecting the Troieshchyna residential area with the “Pochaina” metro station. This was announced by the Kyiv City State Administration, referring to the municipal enterprise “Kyivavtoshlyakhmist”, reports the Baltimore Chronicle, citing Delo.ua.
The restrictions will affect the second, third, and fourth lanes in the direction of the “Pochaina” metro station. Traffic will be organized in two separated lanes on the opposite side of the bridge towards the Troieshchyna neighborhood. Public transport will continue to operate in the rightmost lane from the left bank to the right bank.
The anti-emergency repair work covers a section of the bridge about 800 meters long. The plans include partial restoration of load-bearing structures, replacement of girder spans, repair of supports and the reinforced concrete deck of the roadway, as well as the installation of a new waterproofing layer and asphalt concrete surface.
The Desenka Bridge was built in 1974, and its last major overhaul took place in 2005. Kyiv authorities are asking citizens to take the temporary restrictions into account when planning their routes.
