Despite the fact that in Ukraine vaccination rates against COVID-19 do not yet correspond to WHO recommendations, the coronavirus is finally becoming a seasonal disease.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Igor Kuzin, said this on air at the national telethon, “The Only News,” Ukrinform reports.
“I am sure that the worst is about COVID -19 behind. Despite the fact that vaccination numbers in Ukraine have not yet reached those recommended by WHO, we can already say for sure that COVID-19 is finally becoming a seasonal disease. assured Kuzin.
According to him, Ukrainians will annually encounter a coronavirus that will continue to mutate. But the current nature of COVID-19 mutations does not indicate a tendency for it to become more aggressive.
The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health also recalled that since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 5.5 million cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Ukraine disease, and almost 112 thousand people died from complications.
At the same time, Kuzin added, more than 15 million Ukrainians received two doses of the vaccine against Nakova.
