The authenticity of the banknotes will be checked using counters and currency detectors.
In Ukraine, banks and exchangers do not accept part of the dollars for exchange. At the same time, such currency will be accepted for collection (that is, sent to a foreign bank for exchange) with the payment of a commission. The size of the commission is about 15-30% of the denomination.
The NBU talks about this.
In particular, they do not accept the following banknotes in exchange:
- torn/cut;
- burnt/dilapidated/rotten;
- have damage to design/security features or typographical flaws;
- have changes in the original color of the paper or images;
- have general dirt or occupy half of the banknote (including visible in ultraviolet rays).
- have previously been withdrawn from circulation by a foreign state.
In such serious cases, banknotes can be handed over for collection, and all others, even crumpled, slightly dirty or worn, must be accepted in exchange.
“Remember, banks and non-banks financial institutions are prohibited from establishing restrictions on the denomination and year of issue of valid and real foreign currency banknotes,” the NBU noted.
We would like to remind you that the National Bank of Ukraine has canceled minor wear and tear of foreign currency banknotes. strong> The authenticity of banknotes will be checked using counters and currency detectors.
