The NBU claims that the decision was adopted in accordance with the laws “On the National Bank of Ukraine”, “On Banks and Banking Activities”, “On the Deposit Guarantee System for Individuals”.
“This decision made it possible to maintain financial stability in Ukraine and avoid threats to interests depositors and other creditors of the bank, which arose due to support for the actions and policies of the aggressor country on the part of the owners of indirect significant participation in Sense Bank JSC and as a consequence of the application of Ukrainian and international sanctions to them,” the NBU emphasized.
Recall that the company of Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman ABH Holdings SA, which was the nominal owner of Smysla Bank, filed a lawsuit against Ukraine and demands compensation for the forced nationalization of the financial institution in the amount of $1 billion.
