During the official visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to Doha, Qatar Airways announced the signing of a record-breaking agreement with American aerospace giant Boeing to supply up to 210 wide-body aircraft. The $96 billion deal includes an order for 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 Boeing 777X aircraft, along with an option to purchase 50 additional planes, reports the Baltimore Chronicle, citing Reuters.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, and Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer. This order is the largest in Boeing’s history and also includes the supply of 400 engines from GE Aerospace, marking a record for the engine manufacturer as well.
Qatar Airways already has 94 Boeing 777X aircraft on order, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2026. This latest order further strengthens Boeing’s position in the wide-body aircraft market, especially amid technical issues affecting Airbus A350s in hot climates.
Following the announcement, Boeing’s stock rose by 0.8% to $204.94, reflecting positive investor sentiment toward the deal.
The agreement is part of a broader package of deals between the U.S. and Qatar totaling over $243 billion, which also includes defense investments.
Through this move, Qatar Airways significantly advances its fleet modernization efforts, while Boeing secures a major boost in the global aviation technology market.
