NBU reduced net sales of foreign currency to $670 million

Net sales of foreign currency by the National Bank this week decreased to $673.3 million from $789.3 million a week earlier. This is evidenced by data from the regulator, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

Currency sales

In the first half of this week, currency purchases by bank clients decreased from $266.4 on Monday to $222.6 million on Wednesday.

As a result , if on Monday the NBU weakened the official rate by 12 kopecks – to 38.1920 UAH/$1, then on Tuesday by 3 kopecks, and on Wednesday a tendency towards strengthening the rate began: first it increased it by 3 kopecks, on Thursday – by 20 kopecks , and on Friday – by another 16 kopecks, up to 37.8386 UAH/$1.

On the cash market for last week, the hryvnia also strengthened by almost 40 kopecks – to approximately 38.83 UAH/$1.

As reported, at the end of December, the NBU's net sales increased to approximately $3.57 billion from $2.46 billion in November, $3 .34 billion in October and $2.69 billion in September.
