“The second half of the year saw strong growth in sales of budget devices on the Android platform, including Transsion and Xiaomi, driven by popularity in emerging markets, but Apple was clearly the big winner,” said Nabila Popal, head of research at IDC Worldwide Tracker. “The company was not only the only one of the top three to record positive dynamics at the end of the year, but also rose to first place for the first time.”
South Korean Samsung Electronics last year reduced sales by 13.6%, Chinese Xiaomi by 4% .7%, OPPO – by 9.9%.

Meanwhile, a relatively new player in the smartphone market, the Chinese Transsion, increased sales by 30.8% and rose to fifth place at the end of the year with a market share of 8.1%.

Smartphone shipments in the world in 2023 decreased by 3.2% to 1.17 billion units, according to an IDC report.
In the fourth quarter, smartphone sales in the world increased by 8.5 % compared to the same period of the previous year – to 326.1 million units, with an expected increase of 7.3%.
