“Millions of people are homeless, struggling without adequate access to water, food and electricity, and are in desperate need of health care, protection and other essential services and supplies in Russian-occupied territories,” the report said.
More than £6 million will go to support the most vulnerable people in Ukraine from the Red Cross, while the remaining £2.5 million will fund the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund, part of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. This fund provides assistance, in particular, to residents of areas adjacent to the front line.
This funding is part of the total amount of 357 million pounds sterling that the UK has allocated for humanitarian assistance since the outbreak of full-scale war.
Ukrainians are courageously defending their land from Russia's brutal invasion, but the last two years of war have tragically affected millions of people across Ukraine. Families were divided, towns and villages destroyed, and vital civilian infrastructure destroyed. “Britain supports Ukraine and is committed to helping the most vulnerable Ukrainians living through the horrors of this war,” said Foreign Secretary David Cameron.

Earlier on February 24, the British government announced that the country would spend about $310 million (£245 million) over the year to purchase and activate supply chains for the production of artillery ammunition for Ukraine.
