The European Union, within the framework of the Connecting Europe Mechanism, will allocate 42.95 million euros to Ukrzaliznytsia to improve the railway network. This was reported by the Ukrzaliznytsia press service.

“This project involves improving the railway network and developing a 1,435 mm track to ensure technological compatibility and increase capacity railway infrastructure. Its total budget is 85.91 million euros, the EU mechanism will provide Ukrzaliznytsia with 42.95 million euros,” the message says.
Within the framework of this application it is planned to implement:
- design of reconstruction of railway structures roads with the introduction of 1435 mm gauge on the section Chop – Lviv; designing the reconstruction of railway structures with the construction of a 1435 mm track and electrification on the section Lviv – Chernivtsi – Vadul-Siret – State Border; development of a strategy for the reconstruction of the Lviv railway junction, taking into account the prospects for expanding the 1435 mm gauge railway network of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) on the territory of Ukraine; design and construction of a 1435 mm track with electrification on the Pavlovo-2/Matevtse – Uzhgorod section; electrification of the 1435 mm track on the Chop – Uzhgorod section.
The costs of conducting an examination regarding compliance with the TSI requirements of the above-mentioned projects, as well as the sections Kovel – Yagodin – State Border and Medika/Mostiska II – Lviv (Sknilov) are also provided ).
