Currently, the market price for gas for the population of Ukraine is 7.96 UAH per 1 cubic meter, while the real market price is 15 UAH per cubic meter. m. CEO of NAK Naftogaz Oleksiy Chernyshev stated this in an interview with NV Business.

Answering the question whether the population should pay UAH 15 per cubic meter, Chernyshev noted: “I'm not saying that. Private consumers are now in a sensitive situation. There is a moratorium on price increases. We will ensure a price of UAH 7.96 for the next winter.”
According to him, this difference in tariffs reduces Naftogaz's ability to pay dividends and taxes to the state budget. This reduces Ukraine's ability to implement social or development programs.
“I am an advocate of exclusively market mechanisms; nothing else works in the world. We must protect vulnerable segments of the population; this is our task as a state. But we should not supply energy to vulnerable sections of the population at a reduced price,” Chernyshev said.
