Microsoft Warns of New Virus Targeting Crypto Wallets

Microsoft Corporation has reported a new Trojan that steals information about crypto wallets and user credentials in the Google Chrome browser. This was reported by the company's press service.

It is noted that this is a remote access trojan (RAT), which the company called StilachiRAT. With its help, attackers can gain remote access to the victim's computer.

The malware targets the following cryptocurrency wallets: BitKeep, Trust Wallet, TronLink, MetaMask, TokenPocket, BNB Chain Wallet, OKX Wallet, Sui Wallet, Braavos, Coinbase Wallet, Leap Cosmos Wallet, Full Wallet fluxPortal and Plug.

The Trojan intercepts data from the clipboard and hijacks browser data to compromise private keys. In addition, it can collect complete information about the system, as well as check for the presence of a camera on the device.

The virus was discovered back in November 2024, but Microsoft only reported it now.

The company has not yet linked StilachiRAT to a specific attacker or geolocation. Judging by the current situation, the Trojan has not yet become widespread.

Experts recommend that users exercise caution when clicking on links and downloading files, avoid copying and pasting private keys, enable biometric authentication, and verify wallet addresses before confirming transactions.
