Ukrzaliznytsia warns businesses of risk of non-fulfillment of contractual obligations due to hacker attack

Ukrzaliznytsia has informed businesses about a possible full or partial failure to fulfill obligations under contracts concluded with counterparties as a result of force majeure circumstances related to a large-scale hacker attack. This was reported by the company's press service.

Ukrzaliznytsia recalled that on March 23, 2025, the company experienced a large-scale cyberattack on information and telecommunications systems, which resulted in significant disruption of the functioning of automated systems and the provision of standard company activities.

“In this regard, JSC Ukrzaliznytsia informs about the possible full or partial failure to fulfill obligations under contracts concluded with counterparties as a result of force majeure circumstances (circumstances beyond its control),” the statement says.

The company noted that it is making every effort to quickly restore the full operation of all services and fulfill its obligations to customers and partners.

As Minfin reported, on March 23, Ukrzaliznytsia experienced a technical failure, due to which online ticket sales, service ordering services, and reference information were unavailable.

On the morning of March 27, Ukrzaliznytsia announced that it had resumed its online sales system in a backup format for purchasing new train tickets and returning them.

At the same time, Ukrainians were warned that due to peak loads on the system, temporary technical interruptions in operation are possible.
