In October 2024, the European Union approved high tariffs on imports of Chinese electric vehicles, which in some cases reach 45%.

The regulator concluded that China's electric vehicle value chains benefit from unfair subsidies.

Overall, EU electric vehicle sales rose 23.7% in February, the European Electric Vehicle Association (ACEA) reported earlier this week.

The increase in sales is due, in particular, to the release of new models from manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Renault and Kia, notes Dataforce analyst Julian Litzinger.
