The work of scientists
The study authors analyzed data on 1,574 centenarians born in the United States between 1880 and 1895. They focused on the effect of month of birth on life expectancy, while excluding factors such as seasonality of birth, infant mortality, childhood conditions, or genetic background.
Results
It is noted that people born in September, October or November have a higher chance of surviving to old age compared to those born in March. The results of this study were published on the website of the US National Library of Medicine.
Scientists suggest that these results support the concept that the aging process and human lifespan can be set at an early age.
Analytics
Analysis of the distribution of months of birth of centenarians and their brothers and sisters who died at a young age showed statistically significant differences: those born in September-November showed an excess of centenarians, while while the spring months are associated with a decrease in the chances of living to 100 years.
