Researchers from Gothenburg University (Sweden) found out how you can reduce the risk of stroke with a simple daily action.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Ua-novosti.

According to them, just 30 minutes of walking a day will help prevent many complications associated with stroke. This is not a new discovery: physical activity has already proven itself to be beneficial for brain function, and Swedish scientists confirm its positive effect on post-stroke recovery.

The study included an analysis of data from 2,300 patients who had suffered a stroke. It turned out that people with a sedentary lifestyle had a stroke 1.2 times more often.

“We found that the main risk factor in the development of the most severe forms of stroke was the lack of physical activity and the sedentary lifestyle of patients,” the authors of the project stated.

Scientists note that lack of movement disrupts blood circulation and leads to oxygen deficiency in cells, which causes the destruction of mitochondria, disrupts cell function and leads to their death.

“Even short-term oxygen starvation results in serious consequences. Such transformations can occur both during “major” strokes and during less serious problems with the functioning of the brain’s blood vessels,” the Swedish experts noted.
