Publicist Vitaly Portnikov is convinced that in the conditions of war Ukraine will not avoid making unpopular decisions.
This was reported by “URA-Inform” with reference to Dialog.
In the interview, he frankly answered the question, what specific steps may be necessary for the Ukrainian authorities in the near future.
“It seems to me that these decisions are constantly being discussed, and in a variety of ways. But I am not sure that politicians have decided exactly which of them will actually be implemented,” Portnikov noted.
He gave an example of a possible reduction of the draft age to 18-20 years. However, this may reveal that a significant number of young people in this age category are either studying and have a student exemption, or are employed at enterprises with a similar status.
“There are a lot of students between the ages of 18 and 25,” the publicist explained.
In addition, Portnikov pointed out the need to make complex economic decisions.
“Raising taxes alone will not be enough. Ukraine remains a social country, where many citizens count on state assistance. But the country's capabilities in this regard are shrinking. If half of our budget is formed through Western aid, then reducing this aid reduces our capabilities,” he emphasized.
Thus, Ukrainian society faces a challenge – to adapt to realities, where key decisions will be aimed at maintaining the country's sustainability in conditions of limited resources.
Also, in Ukraine, from January 1, 2025, the rules for the provision of medical services will change.
