In the sky above Ukraine has noticed two “keys” of grey cranes that have returned from “warm” regions.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to the Tsumanskaya Pushcha.

The Kivertsy National Nature Park “Tsumanskaya Pushcha” reported that a rare winter phenomenon was recorded in Volyn on January 27.

Near the village of Domashov in the Lutsk district, the employees of this park witnessed a unique phenomenon – they saw two “keys” of gray cranes in the sky. The total number of birds was 32 individuals.

“The first flock consisted of 18 birds, the second – of 14. Both “keys” were moving in a westerly direction,” the nature park said.

Experts explain that common cranes usually winter in warmer regions such as Southern Europe, North Africa or the Middle East. The rare case is most likely due to the warm winter.

“Observing common cranes in winter is important, as their appearance can indicate changes in the climate, demonstrate the peculiarities of wintering of birds in current climatic conditions and their migration routes. If the cranes stay longer or return earlier, this could be a sign of a warm winter or changes in their traditional wintering sites,” the park added.

It has also become known whether there will be severe frosts: a weather forecaster has given a weather forecast for the rest of the winter.
