After the start of the Russian large-scale invasion, Mykhailo Tsap joined the Defense Forces. He was a combat medic of the 3rd infantry platoon of the 1st infantry company of military unit A4991.
Mykhailo Tsap died on February 24, 2024 near the village of Luhanske, Donetsk region, while carrying out a combat mission.

The farewell to him will take place on November 20 in the Southern community.
Mykhailo Tsap was born on May 28, 1980 in Novovolynsk, Volyn region. He is an ex-member of the Ukrainian national team, the champion of Ukraine in handball as part of three teams, and an ex-coach of the Ukrainian junior team.
As a player, he won gold in the Ukrainian championship as part of three teams – “Portovik”, “ZTR” and “Motor”, and is the winner of the Israel Cup. As a coach, he led his teams to awards in the Ukrainian championship among young men (children's league). In May 2017, the Yuzhnoye team led by Mikhail Tsap became the champion of the All-Ukrainian School League.
And in the 2021/2022 season, the Odessa-2 team led by head coach Mikhail Tsap became the champion of Ukraine among the First League clubs.
