The government has simplified the process of obtaining a residence permit for foreigners who are fighting for Ukraine or are volunteers > Deputy Defense Minister Serhiy Melnyk </p> <p>The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has developed a Cabinet of Ministers resolution “On approval of the Procedure for obtaining information necessary for issuing temporary residence permits to foreigners and stateless persons,” which was adopted by the government at its meeting. This was reported by the press service of the department.</p> <p>“We are strengthening the personnel potential of the Defense Forces, protecting foreigners and stateless persons who support our troops in the fight against the Russian invaders. The Ministry of Defense has clarified the basis for issuing them a temporary residence permit in Ukraine. Thanks to the government's decision, foreign volunteers who are involved in providing firearms, tactical, radio-technical, explosive, medical and other benefits will be more protected. This Resolution also strengthens the protection of foreigners who are directly in the areas of military operations and, together with our units, carry out combat or service missions for at least six months,” said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk.</p> <p> < Support <b>LB.UA</b> – we work for you </p> <p>The said Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, in particular, defines:</p> <ul> <li>the mechanism for obtaining information about foreigners or stateless persons providing/providing assistance to military units in combat zones;</li> <li>requirements for an application from a foreigner or stateless person (or their representative);</li> <li the procedure and timeframes for consideration of the said application by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs; the fact of the provision of assistance by a foreigner or stateless person to military units, direct presence in combat zones, joint participation with such units in the performance of combat or service tasks; for temporary residence and notification of this to a foreigner or stateless person.</li> </ul> <p>A new basis for issuing a temporary residence permit in Ukraine to foreigners and stateless persons who, during the period of martial law in Ukraine, provide or provided assistance to the Defense Forces in repelling Russian aggression, is provided for by Law No. 3897-IX of 20.08.2024.</p> <p><!--noindex--></p> <p><a rel=lb.ua
