Italy has paused negotiations with SpaceX instead of Starlink. This was discovered through the knowledge of the company’s top manager, American billionaire Elon Musk.
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto stated this, RBC-Ukraine reported on La Repubblica.
When asked by the journalist that Italy is in favor of Starlink, Crosetto said that “everything has slowed down.”
“It seems to me that everything has stopped, and even the topic moved to Starlink before the company announced the same company. The technical plan is not discussed. the most beneficial and safest for the country,” the minister explained.
Italy's favor with SpaceX
It was previously reported that the news about the possible benefit of the Italian government with Starlink was for the first time a disaster. Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni tried to promote good news with the administration of the new President Donald Trump and directly with Musk.
However, the Italian opposition still actively criticized the order to sign the great benefit of SpaceX. Opposition politicians called for further negotiations, directly relying on Musk’s threat to shut down Starlink for Ukraine, which would require it to defend against Russian aggression.
Musk pushed for Starlink connections in Ukraine
Apparently, on February 9, billionaire Elon Musk wrote a post declaring that Starlink is the backbone of the Ukrainian army. And once again, if the service was turned off, then the Ukrainian front would collapse.
Later, the head of the Ministry of Health of Poland, Radoslaw Sikorski, reacted to this, declaring that as it will happen, the Polish state will terminate the contract with Musk. He also noted that Poland itself will pay for Starlink for Ukraine.
On his side, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that no one was threatening to turn on Starlink for Ukraine. According to Sikorosky, he called out to say thank you, but without Starlink, Ukraine lost, and the Russian military would be on the border with Poland.
Later that day, Musk himself refused to connect Ukraine to Starlink.
