In March 2025, inflation in Ukraine significantly accelerated – its level reached 1.5% compared to 0.8% in February. This is evidenced by official data from the State Statistics Service, published on April 9. Thus, the price growth rate almost doubled in a month, writes IZ.
In annual terms, inflation in March was 14.6%, up 1.2% from February (13.4%). Core inflation, which excludes seasonal fluctuations and administered prices, rose to 1.4% in March from 0.7% a month earlier.
The largest price increase was recorded for food and non-alcoholic beverages — by an average of 1.7%. Eggs rose the most — by 18.8%. In addition, a significant increase in prices was observed for fruits, vegetables, bread, meat, dairy products, oil and non-alcoholic beverages — within 0.6–6.0%. In contrast, a decrease in prices was recorded for rice and lard — by 0.5%.
Prices for alcohol and tobacco products increased by 1.9%, due to a 2.4% increase in the price of tobacco products. Clothing and footwear rose by an average of 13.3% – in particular, footwear rose by 13.8% and clothing by 13.0%.
In the transport sector, prices increased by 0.2%. The main contribution to this was made by an increase in the price of rail transport by 4.4% and motor transport by 1.5%. At the same time, prices for fuel and lubricants decreased by 0.9%.
