Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that Tehran would not agree to any limitations on its nuclear program, particularly regarding uranium enrichment. He emphasized that Iran would not back down from its sovereign rights despite pressure from the United States, reports the Baltimore Chronicle, citing Reuters.
Araghchi stated that Iran remains open to reaching an agreement, provided that it preserves the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy. He also underlined that the country is not pursuing the development of nuclear weapons.
Earlier, U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff announced that Iran had agreed to renounce the pursuit of nuclear arms. However, according to him, the U.S. expects Iran to dismantle key nuclear facilities, including uranium enrichment centers in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan.
In 2018, the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, accusing Tehran of secretly developing nuclear weapons. Following this, Iran gradually stopped adhering to the deal’s terms.
