Chinese leader Xi Jinping said in his New Year's address that China's “reunification” with Taiwan is inevitable.

Details : “The reunification of the motherland is a historical inevitability,” Jinping said. Although the official English translation of his address, published by the Xinhua news agency, used a simpler phrase: “China will certainly reunite.”
He also declared that “this is the main national interest and this is what the people want.”
Direct Speech : “Compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait should be bound by a common goal and share the glory of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.”
