Answering a question from a journalist from the German publication Bild, the Ukrainian leader confirmed that the refusal of the head of the German government to approve the transfer Taurus cruise missiles to our country are associated with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin’s threats to launch a nuclear strike, NBN reports.
“That’s how it is”, Zelensky quoted the words of the German Chancellor, adding that the lack of supplies of long-range weapons to Ukraine from Germany is unlikely to protect the world from the nuclear threat from a terrorist state.
According to the president, Kyiv and Berlin are discussing the transfer of Taurus cruise missiles for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, this question is “not so simple”, since Germany is not a nuclear state, and these missiles are the most powerful weapons system in Germany, without which Scholz cannot leave his country.
At the same time, as Zelensky noted, Kyiv's allies have the weapons Ukraine needs to survive. The guarantor added that he does not understand why partners do not provide it, meaning Taurus missiles, ATACMS and F-16 fighters.
Earlier, Scholz’s refusal to transfer long-range weapons to Ukraine was commented on in the Verkhovna Rada.
