Ursula von der Leyen said that the European Commission, as part of the obligations of the G7 states, will provide Ukraine with a loan of 35 billion euros. Earlier, the media wrote that the EC would take this money from future income from the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank, NBN reports.
As reported by the RBC-Ukraine publication, during a press conference with the head of the European Commission, Zelensky told what Kyiv would spend the funds on. According to the president, there are three expenditure items for these funds.
The guarantor noted that first of all, 35 billion euros will be spent on the energy sector and defense, in particular on bomb shelters in schools, kindergartens, and universities.
The Ukrainian leader added that part of the money will also go to purchasing missiles and drones, primarily from domestic manufacturers, since these weapons are cheaper for them than for their partners.
It should be noted that on the eve of Ursula von der Leyen's visit to Kyiv, members of the European Parliament called for providing Ukraine with Taurus missiles and allowing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to carry out long-range strikes against the Russian Federation with Western weapons.
