As reported by “NBN” With a link to a video from the Come And Talk 2 Me YouTube channel, WBO light welterweight title holder Teofimo Lopez finally commented on the amount of his fee paid for the Lomachenko fiasco.
According to Lopez, he received almost $500,000 for the fight against IBF/IBO lightweight champion, Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko.
The American emphasized that at first he could not refuse very low offers of earnings for participating in “big fights”. In particular, Lopez was not guaranteed more than $1 million for the fight.
Even when the future WBO titleholder successfully “outboxed” Lomachenko during the coronavirus pandemic, the sports community was confident that he “was given an extra $800,000, but no, that didn't happen.”
Lopez summed it up:
I came home with $460,000 after all expenses, beating the leader of P4P, who was ranked higher than Crawford and Canelo.
