Dermatologist Michelle Henry said that people between the ages of 40 and 50 usually experience increased dry skin. According to her, this happens because over the years the epidermis becomes thinner, blood vessels become more fragile. As a result, the skin barrier weakens, becomes more sensitive and drier.

Experts note that there are two factors that contribute to increased dryness. Firstly, refusal of sunscreen, secondly, stress – due to high levels of cortisol, the skin retains moisture worse.
To reduce age-related dry skin, dermatologist Dean Mraz advises using a serum with vitamin C daily, as well as products with retinol and hyaluronic acid. It is equally important to drink enough water and avoid drinks that cause dehydration, such as coffee and alcohol.
The doctor recommends choosing gentle moisturizers for the body instead of harsh soap, using washing powder without fragrances and dyes. It would also be a good idea to put a humidifier in the room.
