Reuters reported that it is known about three North Korean generals that Pyongyang, along with its soldiers, sent to Russia sent to the Russian Federation. Their names are Kim Yong Bok, Ri Chang Ho and Sin Kum Chol, NBN reports.
Journalists cite Michael Madden, an expert on the DPRK leadership from the US-based Stimson Center. According to him, Kim Yong Bok is the commander of North Korea's special forces, in particular the 11th Army Corps (the “Assault Corps”), which could have been sent to the Russian Federation.
Madden believes that Kim Jong-un could have sent this general to Moscow as his confidant. After the deployment of DPRK units in Russia, Kim Yong Bok may hand over command of his military to a senior colonel or major general of the Russian Armed Forces.
The expert said that Sin Kum Chol is the head of the General Operations Directorate of North Korea, and it is possible that he will command the DPRK soldiers after Kim Yong Bok and Ri Chang Ho leave the Russian Federation.
Ri Chang Ho is a colonel general in the North Korean army, deputy chief of the General Staff and head of the General Intelligence Bureau of the DPRK. Seoul imposed sanctions against him, stating that the military leader was the curator of major cyberattacks on South Korea with the aim of stealing foreign currency and technology.
Recall that the South Korean defense ministry said that Pyongyang will ask Moscow in exchange for sending DPRK troops to the Russian Federation.
