During a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities on Tuesday, December 17, the Ukrainian leader recalled that he communicates with Donald Trump and has held several meetings with him. According to the president, “various politicians are using this as a PR tool,” but he does not need intermediaries to communicate with the newly elected US leader.
This was reported by the NBN publication with reference to the Ukrinform agency.
In particular, the guarantor made it clear that Kyiv needs direct relations with Washington and does not need the “mediation” of the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban. Zelensky explained that the representative of Budapest has no leverage over Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.
“I won't let him or anyone like him in,” the Ukrainian leader said.
The President added that the OPU continues to actively work with the team of the new head of the White House and expressed hope that the Trump administration will continue to help Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor.
Recall that Orban spoke about his “peace” initiative, announcing changes in the West after the inauguration of the 47th US President.
