As NBN reports with reference to the official X-account of the US President's Special Representative for Ukraine-Russia Affairs Keith Kellogg, who was present in the White House during Zelensky's visit, the topic of ending the war in Ukraine was not a priority for Trump without the fulfillment of certain conditions.
Based on Kellogg's words, Trump has always put the interests of the United States first, which the world community saw on Friday, February 28, in “real time.”
It should be noted that the day before, Zelensky emphasized in the White House that he intends to stop the war if the United States provides security guarantees [in exchange for signing an agreement on the development of Ukrainian mineral deposits].
Trump predictably responded to this proposal by saying that the US had previously supported Ukraine in the war against Russia on the initiative of Joseph Biden, whose term had expired, and therefore:
…You [Ukraine] need to be more grateful because, let me tell you, you have no cards. It will be a tough deal [on minerals] because the attitude has to change.
In addition, the Kyiv delegation, after the dispute between Zelensky and Trump, waited for about an hour, hoping to sign a deal on mineral resources, but the Ukrainian president rightly rejected this opportunity.
Earlier we wrote that Trump is considering ending any military aid to Ukraine.
