In an interview with the Polish publication Rzeczpospolita, the head of the Greek government denied media reports about sending F-16 fighters to Ukraine. According to Mitsotakis, Athens is not ready to provide Kyiv with these combat aircraft, NBN reports.

The Prime Minister assured that, despite this, Greece will continue to support Ukraine, protecting and respecting the principles of the international order. The politician noted that his country has historically strong cultural and regional ties with the Russians, but Athens opposes the Putin regime.

The head of government recalled that on April 11, at a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky, he promised that Greece would continue to support Ukraine to the best of its ability, so that military assistance to Kyiv does not weaken his country’s ability to defend itself.

The Prime Minister also added that Athens transferred a significant amount of 155-mm ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the backdrop of a shortage of shells among the defenders.

Earlier, Norwegian Foreign Minister Bart Eide said that the F-16 fighters transferred to Oslo will help the Ukrainian Defense Forces to strike deeper in the rear of the terrorist state.
