For some categories of elderly citizens of our country, the state guarantees the accrual of additional financial assistance for special merits.

NBN writes about which pensioners in Ukraine, in addition to the basic payment, receive from page of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In particular, according to the norms of pension legislation, the above-described additional payments are due:
- individuals awarded the Order of “Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred”, as well as persons having at least the 1st Order of Ukraine after the declaration of independence of the country, and persons with the honorary title “People’s”;
- war veterans who were awarded the order for personal courage/personal contribution after the declaration of independence, and who demonstrated themselves in the defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine;
- athletes who won the “Olympic/Paralympic Games”, “ World Deaf Games”, are world or European champions/record holders;
- persons who have flown into space/members of flight test aviation teams;
- persons with the title “Honoured” or State Prize of Ukraine;
- mothers who gave birth to 5 children and raised them up to 6 years old/fathers, if the mother is deprived of parental rights or died;
- persons recognized as fighters for the country's independence in the 20th century/subjected to repressive actions due to political/religious motives in the form of imprisonment/imprisonment/forced psychiatric treatment.
