Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur became the winner of the ITF W50 tournament in Georgian Lopota.
22-year-old native of Kyiv (No. 125 WTA) received the first seeding number at these competitions. In the final, the Ukrainian defeated the Russian Kira Pavlova(No. 461 WTA), who, due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, was allowed to compete only in a neutral status.
The decisive match lasted 1 hour 1 minute and ended with the triumph of our compatriot over an athlete from the aggressor country with a score of 6:1, 6:1.
In previous rounds, Snigur beat “neutrals” Daria Zelinskaya and Evelina Laskevich , as well as American Katherine Harrison. In the semi-finals, the Ukrainian defeated another “neutral” Russian, Anastasia Zolotareva.
For Snigur, the victory in Lopota became the second trophy this season. In April, Daria won the ITF W50 tournament in Calves, France.
