Elina Svitolina, Dayana Yastremskaya and Angelina Kalinina will continue to perform in the Italian capital.
Three Ukrainian tennis players advanced to the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome: Elina Svitolina, Dayana Yastremskaya and Angelina Kalinina.
Svitolina began her performances immediately from the second round of the competition, where she defeated the Italian Sara Errani with a score of 6:0, 6:2.
Yastremskaya also started the tournament directly from the second round, beating the German Laura Siegemund in a tense match with a score of 4:6, 7:5, 6:2. In the second set, the Ukrainian saved two match points.
Kalinina also started the competition from the second round and beat another Ukrainian Lesya Tsurenko. The match lasted only 16 minutes. With the score 2:0 in favor of her opponent, Tsurenko withdrew due to health problems.
In the third round of the tournament, Svitolina will meet with the “neutral” Russian Anna Kalinskaya, Yastremskaya will play against the “neutral” Belarusian Arina Sabalenka, and Kalinina will compete against Maria Sakkari from Greece.
Note that the tournament in Rome will be the last competition before the second Grandslam in 2024 – Roland Garros, in which five Ukrainian tennis players got into the main draw.
