In the French capital, Oksana won the 11th award in her career at the Paralympic Games.
Ukrainian Oksana Boturchuk set a national record for the number of medals won at the Paralympic Games in athletics.
On the sixth day of competition Paralympics-2024 in Paris, she is together with guide Nikita Barabanovwon bronze in the 400-meter dash (class T12).
The Ukrainian finished third with a time of 55.67 seconds. The Paralympic champion was Omara Duran Elias from Cuba (53.59 seconds), and the silver was taken by the representative of Iran Agar Safarzade Gahderiani (55.39 seconds).
For Boturchuk, this is the 11th medal in her career at the Paralympic Games. Oksana won her first award at the 2008 Games in Beijing – gold in the 100-meter dash.
Thus, Boturchuk became the most titled Ukrainian track and field athlete in the history of the Paralympic Games. Oksana is the only representative of Ukraine in this sport who managed to win 11 medals at the Paralympics. Before that, she shared first place in the number of awards with Viktor Pavlyk (10).
At the moment, the Ukrainian team has already won 36 medals at the current Paralympic Games – 5 gold, 12 silver and 19 bronze. Our team ranks tenth in the medal standings and is fifth in the number of awards won.
The Paralympic Games in Paris will last until September 8. Ukraine is represented by 140 athletes competing in 17 sports. This is a record number of sports in the Paralympic history of Ukraine.
Recall that at the previous Summer Paralympic Games, which took place in 2021 in Tokyo, Ukrainian athletes won 98 awards: 24 gold, 47 silver and 27 bronze. With this result, Ukraine took sixth place in the medal count and became fifth in the number of awards.
