The best biathlete in the world announced his retirement

Johannes Bjo will say goodbye to biathlon at the end of the current season.

Outstanding Norwegian biathlete Johannes Bjo has announced that he will end his professional career at the end of the 2024/25 season.

The 31-year-old athlete wrote about this on his Instagram page.

The Norwegian planned to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics, but decided to retire early because he wants to spend more time with my family.

“For 13 years I was part of the best national team in the world, with the best sponsors in the world behind me. For the last six seasons I have combined top sport with family life. It has been wonderful, but also difficult. Now I know that it is time to put my family first.

I was going to compete for another year, but Olympic training requires even more, including from the people around me. I still love to compete, but there are few competition days compared to others.

Let's enjoy the last starts together before we finish with a bang in Holmenkollen on March 20-23,” Biot concluded.

Johannes is a five-time winner of the Big Crystal Globe, including the current one. He won the main trophy of the biathlon season in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024. Biot is also a five-time Olympic champion and 20-time world champion.
