WBO and IBF middleweight champion Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (17-0, 12 KO) defeated Frenchman Anuel Ngamissengue (14-1, 9 KO).
With just seconds left in the fifth round, Ngamissenge was knocked down. He managed to get to his feet, but looked too shaken to be stopped by the referee.
Let us recall that before this, 31-year-old Alimkhanuly entered the ring in early October last year – he knocked out Andrei Mikhailovich (21-1, 13 KO), who competes under the New Zealand flag, and defended his IBF title.
Immediately after that fight, the WBO ordered the Kazakh to fight the British Hamza Shiraz (21-0, 17 KOs), but the parties were unable to agree on the fight. In March, Zhanibek Alimkhanuly expressed his readiness to fight the Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
