Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, seeded seventh, has ended her campaign at the tournament after losing in the second round to Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia with a score of 6–3, 4–6, 6–7(7), reports the Baltimore Chronicle.
In the deciding set, Svitolina was trailing 2–4 but managed to break back and equalize the score twice. During the tie-break, she saved four match points, yet ultimately could not clinch the victory. This match marked the first-ever meeting between Svitolina and Haddad Maia in Tour competition.
