Spotify has kicked off the promotional rollout for its yearly Spotify Wrapped feature, the streaming service’s most anticipated end-of-year release, even though the company has yet to provide an exact launch date, reports Baltimore Chronicle citing the Columbus Dispatch.
Wrapped compiles a personalized summary of each user’s listening behavior over the past year, highlighting top artists, tracks and genres, accompanied by vibrant graphics that traditionally take over social media every December.
While the platform has not disclosed this year’s official debut, past release patterns offer a reliable indication. Spotify generally unveils Wrapped between late November and early December. Recent timelines show the recap arriving on December 4 in 2024, November 29 in 2023, November 30 in 2022 and December 1 in 2021, suggesting that the new edition should appear shortly.
Spotify has also addressed a long-circulating assumption that data collection for Wrapped ends on October 31. In 2024, the company publicly clarified that listening activity continues to count beyond that date and remains part of the final report.
The feature first launched in 2015 under the name “Year in Music,” offering an early breakdown of users’ most-played songs and artists. It was renamed “Spotify Wrapped” in 2016, accompanied by more sophisticated personalization tools and share-ready slides that helped turn the annual recap into a viral fixture.
Once Wrapped becomes available, users will need to update the Spotify app. The Wrapped hub typically appears at the top of the home screen, prompting listeners to open and explore their personalized annual overview.
