US President Donald Trump does not want to provide Ukraine with security guarantees until the war is over. He noted that his priorities differ from those of Europe.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to Sky News.
Commenting on the situation in Ukraine, Trump suggested that his priorities differ from those of Europe.
The publication writes that while Ukraine calls for security guarantees to reach a peace agreement, Trump says he wants the fighting to stop first.
“Before I even think about it, I want to end the war, finish it… As for the security issue later, that's the easy part. The hard part is resolving the conflict,” the US leader said.
At the same time, asked whether Russia was exploiting the US pause in providing aid and intelligence to Ukraine during its latest attacks, Trump said he believed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was “doing what anyone else would do.”
“I think he wants it to stop and be resolved, and I think he's hitting them (the Ukrainians, – ed.) harder than he's ever hit them before, and probably anyone who was in his place would be doing exactly that right now,” Trump noted.
Note that earlier today, President Trump said he continues to believe that Putin wants to end the war against Ukraine.
Let us recall that on March 5, the media reported that the United States had stopped exchanging intelligence data with Ukraine for strikes on Russian territory.
The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) confirmed that Washington had suspended not only intelligence sharing but also arms supplies.
Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the teams from Ukraine and the United States of America have resumed work.
Moreover, the head of Ukraine confirmed that a meeting of Ukrainian and US delegations will take place in Saudi Arabia next week.
Meanwhile, the US President's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, noted that during the negotiations it is possible to discuss the framework of a peace agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
