A New York judge has denied Harvey Weinstein’s motion seeking a new trial, ruling that the concerns raised by jurors regarding deliberation room conduct were properly addressed, reports Baltimore Chronicle via ABC News. Weinstein, the former Hollywood producer, was convicted of sexually assaulting Mimi Haley in 2006, who had briefly worked as a production assistant on the reality series “Project Runway.” The defense argued that two jurors later reported feeling coerced into reaching a guilty verdict. In his Thursday ruling, Judge Curtis Farber stated, “The Court’s response to the jurors’ complaints appropriately balanced the competing interests of investigating the allegations while avoiding any unnecessary taint of the deliberating jury.”

Weinstein, 73, appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court on January 8, 2026, and remains in custody at Rikers Island in New York City, where he has spent nearly six years in confinement. His legal team emphasized that he is “medically fragile and in legal limbo,” highlighting the ongoing health concerns the producer faces while awaiting further court proceedings.

In a separate but related matter, the judge declared a mistrial on the rape charge related to an alleged 2013 assault of Jessica Mann after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Weinstein will face a retrial for this charge, with his attorneys currently discussing scheduling and strategy for the upcoming proceedings.
