Almost a thousand primary care medical institutions can provide services for the protection of mental health.
The Ministry of Health reported this, reports Ukrinform.
“Currently, 976 primary care medical institutions and individual physicians have signed an agreement with the NHSU for the provision of medical services within the framework of the package “Support and treatment of adults and children with mental disorders at the primary level of medical care.” This represents 40% of all medical institutions that provide primary care under the Medical Guarantee Program,” the statement says. departments of contracted medical institutions.
To provide patients with qualified assistance in maintaining mental health, primary care doctors – family doctors, internists and pediatricians – undergo special training in the certified mhGAP program.
More than 16,650 primary care doctors have already received certificates for completing the online course “Management of common mental disorders in primary care using mhGAP guidelines.” Now more than 8,400 of them already provide free mental health services to Ukrainians in medical institutions contracted by the NHSU.

As reported, in 2023, about 175 thousand Ukrainians turned to primary care doctors regarding their mental health.
