Super Fresh supermarket has marked its official opening in South Baltimore’s Pigtown neighborhood. The 40,000-square-foot store offers produce, meat, seafood and international groceries at 1205A W. Pratt Street, according to the Baltimore Chronicle.
Community leaders, neighborhood partners and residents attended the opening event on Friday, July 10. The supermarket occupies a retail site where several grocery operators previously struggled.
Super Fresh supermarket targets a long-standing local need
Owner James Lee said the company’s priorities include fresh products, fair prices and a clean, safe shopping environment. He also described community engagement as central to the store’s strategy.
The opening gives Pigtown residents another nearby option for full-service grocery shopping. City officials hope the operator can provide greater stability at the Mount Clare Junction location.

Although the official ceremony took place in July 2026, local reporting indicates the store began serving customers in late 2025. Friday’s event therefore represented a formal community opening rather than the first day of retail operations.
